Stop! Be Still, And the swallows will fall from an empty sky to circle around your head. The engine taps and tinks and ticks, The rush and the roar And the rumble sinks. Flick the switch And the motor dies But Turning, returning The wheels of your life Chopping and churning The score of your mind. Stop! Be Still. Wherever your bed lies Leave the door Open To vast angelic skies The soft murmur of rain washes in Like fingertips Dancing on your skin. Grime and grit, the violence Of a driven life Fall into a silence And there is no more to be said. The swallows fall from an empty sky To circle around your head.

Carinholy II The dark sea snapping The cold comes cracking Bitter my face when I turned to see Hardship & hurting Unpleasant the parting Now I stand here I'm thinking Cold & grey Cold as stone Standing Waiting and watching the sea. The dark sea snapping And the frost comes cracking The tall stones stand watching An eternity Of the sea's slough And the wind's blow But they remain Cold & grey Standing stones Waiting by the sea. I turn to go Like they all have done Everyone who has come here before me But something remains Cold & grey Cold as stone Something that never will leave me.

After my previous, first, useless Journal entry I'll try and make this one a bit more interesting. I'd never thought of the ammount of time caught in my portfolio. I've never really done 'fast art'; a lot of my stuff takes a long time to create. The process could take a journal entry of it's own but you can picture the process; concept and thumbnail sketch, worked up geometry, then production of the final piece with the required knotwork layout (again, the traditional rules of celtic art are a subject in themselves) and then inking. The creation of each piece was, for me, a meditation on the subject and an exploration of the ideas behind it.
